This is a picture of a single veritcal comb in the middle of the channel. I did this to see how turbulence spreads. You can see lots of coherent structure, and lots of communication through the comb. The periodic turbulent blobs gave me a big spike in the power spectrum.
Closeup of the above picture. Lots of small scale stuff, and large islands of non turbulent fluid puled into the comb.
The bottom is two combs, slightly tilted, with some throughflow. Here you see small scales at the edges, and a region of somewhat homogeneous stuff in the center.
